Sex Assault Squad detectives have charged a 30-year-old man with the alleged attempted rape of an elderly Greenfields woman.
The man allegedly broke into the 81-year-old victim's home while she was sleeping around 2.10am on Sunday.
He then allegedly grabbed her and tried to sexually assault her before fleeing.
The woman suffered cuts and bruises to her face and swelling to her hand.
A 30-year-old Mandurah man has been charged with attempted aggravated sexual penetration without consent and aggravated home burglary.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
