A 28-year-old man will front court today accused of stealing a four-wheel-drive from a Greenfields property and leading police on a chase through Mandurah.
The Coodanup man allegedly stole the white Mitsubishi Pajero from a property on Balwina Road in Greenfields on Friday morning.
In an attempt to evade police, the driver allegedly rammed through bollards and a fence at Rushton Park and drove into oncoming traffic.
The police helicopter was also called in to help track down the car, which eventually stopped in the carpark of the Mandurah Forum after running over a stinger on Ranceby Avenue.
The 28-year-old driver was taken into custody and has been charged with eight offences including stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving to escape pursuit and endangering the life, health or safety of a person.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
Mandurah Detectives are asking for anyone with information, in particular, anyone whose vehicle was struck by the stolen vehicle during the evade police incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
