A 48-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly leaving his hotel quarantine room and threatening to spit on a security guard.
The South Australian man was approved to enter Western Australia as an Australian citizen returning from overseas (Poland) for compassionate reasons, via the G2G Pass system.
He arrived at Perth Airport on Thursday January 28, on a flight from Doha, and was taken to a quarantine hotel in Perth.
About 6:40pm last night it will be alleged the man left his allocated room, in breach of his quarantine direction, and failed to comply with a request from security staff to return to his room.
He also allegedly entered the emergency stairwell and threatened to spit in the security guard's face before returning to his room.
The guard retreated to a safe distance.
Police then attended the man’s hotel room, where he was arrested and relocated to the Perth Watch House.
The 48-year-old man from South Australia has been charged with failing to comply with a direction and threatening to injure, endanger or harm any person.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
