Fisheries have seized a man's vehicle in the South West after he was allegedly caught in possession of 292 Roe's abalone.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are now investigating and will consider whether to lay charges over what is regarded as a "traffickable quantity of abalone".
The daily possession limit for recreational abalone fishing during the Southern Zone season from October 1 to May 15 is 20 Roe’s abalone per day.
People found guilty of possessing traffickable amounts of priority fish, like abalone or rock lobster, may face up to four years in prison or fines up to $400,000, as well as court orders, licence suspensions and vehicle or vessel forfeitures.
