A man has been shot dead by police in Gosnells.
Around 1am on Monday, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Fremantle Road.
Acting Police Commissioner Col Blanch said officers spoke to a man inside a home before he armed himself with a knife.
“There was quite a violent engagement with the man, at which time OC spray was deployed, a taser was then deployed, and finally an officer discharged his firearm,” Mr Blanch said.
Despite attempts to revive the man, he died at the scene.
One police officer suffered a stab wound to his arm and another suffered a hand injury during the altercation.
They were both taken to Armadale Hospital and have since been released.
An investigation is now underway.
