Local families are being encouraged to attend the Mandurah Children's Festival on Sunday.

The festival coincides with National Children's Week, exploring the theme of 'communication' through a number of free activities, entertainment and learning opportunities.

It will be held on the Eastern Foreshore with free on-stage entertainment from 10am-3pm, rides and games, learning stations, family-friendly activities plus food vans and market stalls.

There will be opportunities to explore past and present ways of communicating through interactive workshops including making string and cup telephones, invisible ink, reading braille, postcards and more.

The Mandurah Men’s Shed stall will be at the festival, where children can paint a wooden toy for a gold coin donation.

Kids can also go in the running to win the grand prize of an iPad by grabbing a stamp card and collecting stamps through participating in the free workshops.

The Mandurah Children’s Festival is a dog-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free event, and inclusive for all abilities.
