A Mandurah couple are celebrating a division one Lotto win, taking home a huge $884,000 prize.
The winning ticket was purchased from the Mandurah Greenfields Newsagency ahead of the Saturday Lotto draw.
When handing over their ticket to Lotterywest staff to confirm the win, the machine said the ticket was "not a winner".
“When we saw that message, it sent chills down our spine,” the woman in her 70’s said.
“Very quickly we realised we handed over the wrong ticket and fortunately our other ticket was the winner.
“It would have been a long ride back to Mandurah if that hadn’t been the case.”
The winner said the win has helped secure their future and will make life more comfortable.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said Saturday’s win was one of multiple WA prizes recorded across the long weekend.
“The long weekend was also home to an online winner scoring a $1 million prize, thanks to Friday’s Millionaire Medley draw,” he said.
“The weekend also celebrated two Set for Life Division Two winners, one from Newsxpress Halls Head and Lotterywest Play Online.
“These two tickets are now worth $5,000 a month for the next 12 months.”
