The Mandurah Magic women have signed Olympian Ally Wilson for the 2025 NBL1 West season.
Wilson was part of Australia's historic first appearance in 3x3 basketball at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
She was also the first Indigenous Australian to compete for Australia in basketball at the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
Wilson has been part of the NBL1 competition for many years and in 2023 she helped lead the Norwood Flames to a championship where she was crowned Finals MVP.
Last season she played for the Bendigo Braves but missed a large part of the tournament due to the Olympics.
Wilson said she is looking forward to joining the Mandurah Magic in 2025.
'I'm so excited to be a part of the Magic. I've heard such great things about the quality of people within the organisation and I'm really looking forward to being a part of that,” Wilson told NBL1.
"From a basketball perspective, I want to help the club win and return to finals basketball. I look forward to bringing my leadership to the playing group and developing juniors coming through".
Magic coach Vlad Alava said Wilson will be a huge addition to the team.
"It's a tremendous signing, not just for our team but the entire organisation. Ally's one of the greatest talents in Australian basketball, Olympian, Lynx MVP and all WNBL First Team selection this season speaks volume to her talent and skill set,” Alava told NBL1.
"But for me, what is equally impressive is the calibre of person she is. Speaking to multiple people who have been part of teams with Ally, they have all commented on what an amazing person she is.
"I'm truly excited to have an exemplary woman on and off the court like Ally wearing our colours this year. We're glad she's on our side, that's for sure"
The NBL1 West season kicks off on April 4th.
