The Western Australia Police Force temporarily suspended the Marine Search operation for a suspected missing kayaker last night, to recommence at first light this morning.
It is believed the man was kayaking in the Point Peron area in the morning of Wednesday 03 April 2019. Shortly after 11:00 am a personal locating beacon activated resulting in a significant search involving Search and Rescue aircraft including the RAC Rescue Helicopter and Police Air Wing and search vessels from WA Water Police and Rockingham Volunteer Marine Rescue.
A kayak was located adrift however no one was with the craft.
The search continued after dark and was suspended around 10:00 pm, however will recommence at first light on Thursday 04 April 2019 utilising
• Two Helicopters (RAC and Police Airwing)
• Fixed wing aircraft
• 6 sea search and rescue vessels – Rockingham VMR and Water Police
• 3 Personal Water Craft – Fremantle VMR
The family of the missing man have been provided regular updates on the search.
