The McHappy Day will return to Mandurah on November 16 to raise much needed funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
The fundraiser helps to keep families together when their child is seriously ill or injured.
The RMHC also announced Hollywood actress Katie Holmes as the McHappy Day Ambassador for 2019.
Holmes will help fundraise at a Sydney McDonald's restaurant, as well as visit children and parents currently in a Ronald McDonald House.
She said she is proud to be named the 2019 Ambassador.
"I’m really looking forward to being in Australia for this important event," she said.
"McHappy Day raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, ultimately helping to keep families together while their sick or injured child undergoes treatment.
"I can only imagine how much that helps the child and reduces the impact on the family unit.”
McHappy day has raised more than $46 million since 1991, making it the biggest fundraiser for RMHC each year.
Marketing Director at McDonald's Australia Jo Feeney said they are thrilled to have Holmes on board.
"We know supporting children’s charities is close to Katie’s heart, making her a fantastic advocate to help us generate critical funding for Ronald McDonald House Charities," she said.
"We’re hoping with Katie’s support we can beat our record and raise more than $5 million for this important charity.”
Donations so far have helped fund the successful openings of three new Ronald McDonald Houses over the last two years including one in Perth, as well as a Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Busselton.
Last year, fundraising from McHappy Day contributed to more than 320,000 nights of accommodation for over 10,000 families, over 1300 home-cooked meals for families and 1900 students per week receiving tutoring.
Some of the ways to get involved this year include:
- Buying a Big Mac from McDonald's - $2 from every Big Mac sold on 16 November goes directly to RMHC
- Picking-up a pair of $5 silly socks or a Helping Hand for $2, $5 or $10
- Making a gold coin donation via the McHappy Day Bucket Brigades.
