Two new enclosed dog parks have been proposed for the Rockingham area.
An enclosed dog park is a secure, fully-fenced space dedicated to dogs for off-leash recreation.
They provide a safe, accessible community setting where dogs can play and interact with each other, and promotes responsible dog ownership.
Seahaven Reserve in Safety Bay and St Clair Reserve in Port Kennedy were chosen by the Council, with the locations now open for public comment.
The locations were chosen because:
- They have good passive surveillance i.e. they are visible to neighbouring streets and houses which improves community safety
- There are multiple access options to the parks, including walking or private vehicle
- They are accessible, large public open spaces
- There is existing park infrastructure and connecting path networks
- There is the opportunity to add more car parking
- They are centrally located for the significant population of registered dogs in the City.
