Six Peel sporting clubs will share in $72,500 of State Government funding.
Allocated as part of the 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme, the Peel cricket, hockey, netball, basketball, soccer and AFL associations will share in the funding to support community sport in the region.
Premier Mark McGowan said the funding is important to help Peel clubs continue their long tradition of developing quality local talent.
“Peel is an already strong sporting region, and these grassroots grants will ensure local clubs are able to continue their great work developing local talent," Mr McGowan said.
“This kind of local funding support helps make sure talented country athletes have decent opportunities to achieve in their chosen sport.
“It’s important we recognise the value grassroots sport brings to Peel communities - these sports clubs are often the cornerstone of the community.”
The 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme (Peel) includes:
• Peel Cricket Board - $10,000;
• Peel Hockey - $10,000;
• Netball WA (Peel) - $15,000;
• Western Australian Basketball Federation (Peel) - $15,000;
• Peel District Football Development Council - $12,500; and
• Peel Regional Soccer Council - $10,000.
