Major Crash Investigators are continuing to seek information regarding a ‘hit and run’ crash that occurred just before 9:00 pm on Sunday 31 March 2019, on the roundabout at the junction of Bishopsgate and Oats Streets, Carlisle.
The crash involved a white Mitsubishi Pajero 4WD and a female cyclist who was delivering meals.
The vehicle has silver or grey lower door mouldings and a rear mounted spare tyre in a solid white cover, and is believed to be an older model from between 1995 to 2006.
The cyclist was dragged underneath the 4WD for approximately 80 m and received extensive serious injuries which require ongoing surgeries.
Enquiries by Major Crash Investigators has shown that after the crash the vehicle travelled further along Bishopsgate Street before stopping and reversing off the victim. The vehicle then proceeded along Bishopsgate Street before turning right into Mercury Street then left into Planet Street.
The vehicle continued along Planet Street before turning left onto Archer Street towards Rutland Avenue and Shepperton Road. Enquiries are continuing as to the vehicle’s route past this point.
Police are asking the driver to come forward and make contact, either by phoning 131 444 or by attending a local police station.
