Pinjarra locals have been advised to expect road closures and detours for the next few months as construction begins on a new single-lane roundabout.
The $2.3 million State funded roundabout at Pinjarra Road and Murray Street is set to reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes.
It will also improve pedestrian safety, with new paths to be constructed across both Pinjarra Road and Murray Street.
During construction, there will be a number of detours on both Pinjarra Road and Murray Street, impacting traffic and path users.
Pinjarra Road westbound (i.e. travelling from Pinjarra to Mandurah) will be closed to all vehicles between South Western Highway and Forrest Street.
Pinjarra Road eastbound (i.e. travelling from Mandurah to Pinjarra) will be reduced to single lane and closed to all vehicles greater than 19m in length or 3.5m wide.

Main Roads Director of the South West Region Rob Barnsley is urging motorists to be patient during the works.
"There is a bit of an inconvenience," he said.
"Plenty of information has gone out either by ourselves or the Shire and we just ask for peoples patience for this period.
Mr Barnsley said the new roundabout has been a long time coming with nearly 15,000 vehicles passing through the intersection everyday.
"The community has been looking forward to this for some time."
