Western Australia's only beach horse race is making a return to Rockingham in 2025.
After a brief hiatus in 2024 due to funding issues, the Rockingham Beach Cup (RBC) is back this November (15th and 16th), supported by a $230,000 sponsorship from the City of Rockingham.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Palm Beach, the RBC is a two-day celebration that combines the thrill of beachside horse racing with vibrant, family-friendly entertainment and food.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the City is proud to once again be the event’s major sponsor.
“We are delighted to see the Beach Cup back on our shores. This is a signature event for the City that brings our community together and attracts thousands of visitors to our beautiful foreshore,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“It’s not just a great weekend for families - when thousands of people visit the City, they’re eating at our cafes, staying in local accommodation, and shopping in our stores, giving our local economy a real boost.
“Thank you to the Rotary Club of Palm Beach and all their amazing volunteers. They’ve put in a power of work to make this event happen, and we’re so grateful for everything they’ve done.”
Previously the RBC has attracted around 22,000 people to the foreshore across the two days, including more than 9000 visitors from outside the region, injecting around $1.2 million into the local economy each year.
The event will include the Rotary Community Festival across Saturday and Sunday at Churchill Park featuring live music, artisan markets, gourmet food trucks, interactive zones and free family entertainment.
The beach horse race will take place on Sunday, November 16 and for those looking for a premium experience, the Palm Beach Oasis (licensed area) opens from 12pm featuring a view of the finish line, cocktail and container bars, pop-up food, live DJ and band performances, charity auctions, and Fashions on the Foreshore.
Tickets are available via the Rockingham Beach Cup website.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Rotary Club of Palm Beach and its nominated charities, including Variety the Children’s Charity and Rotary local projects and the Australian Jockey’s Association.
