This year marks a decade since the City of Rockingham introduced a dedicated Community Grants Program.
Over that time, nearly $5 million in funding has been used to payroll various community groups and organisations since the programs inception.
The grants are available in four categories and are aimed at delivering programs, events and projects which benefit the community as a whole.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the CGP helps the City deliver on its key Strategic Community Plan aspiration and nurturing community connectedness.
"It does this by providing finacial assistance to groups and individuals that build capacity within our community,"he said.
"During COVID-19 the City has also provided funding to support community groups that offer services and assistance to people impacted by the pandemic. This emergency relief has seen more than $80,000 provided to 15 not-for-profit organisations."
The CREW, which is a locally based organisation which delivers emergency relief to vulnerable members of the community, received $12,000 through the COVID-19 emergency relief fund.
Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre also received $15,000 through same the relief fund.
Moorditj Koort Programs Manager Carmel Kickett said the funding would provide benefits including putting food on the table for families as well as assisting with the delivery of medical supplies.
"Moorditj Koort will provide 150 individual families with a $100 voucher, providing food and other essential item, such as personal hygiene and cleaning products from Coles or Woolworths."she said.
