A man found guilty of attempted murder after attacking a police officer with a samurai sword outside of a Rockingham house has had his sentencing adjourned until next week.
Milos Radovic breached a violence restraining order in July 2017 when he visited his ex-wife and their children at a Rockingham home.
The 47-year-old then violently attacked Senior Constable Andrew Swift with a samurai sword, causing a 10 centimetre wound to his head and fracturing his skull.
Mr Radovic was found guilty in October.
Radovic told Justice Fiannaca he had visited the house with intentions to confront two men over rumours his son was being used as a drug mule and simply didn't know his former wife was living at the house.
He also claimed that he did not know Senior Constable Swift was a policeman before he hit him.
Mr Radovic's defense lawyer Helen Smith told the court he was grateful that it didn't go worse on that day for Senior Constable Swift.
State prosecutor Justin Whalley argued if Radovic had genuine fears his son was being used as a drug courier he could have told police when they arrived at the house.
He will be back in court next week for sentencing.
