Five local men will share their personal stories about how they remain physically and mentally healthy as part of the Shire's online campaign to celebrate Men’s Health Week.
Celebrated from 15-21 June, Men’s Health Week aims to raise awareness of common male-related health issues, culminating with Wear BLUE for Men's Health Day on Friday, 19 June.
From a teenager through to an octogenarian, five local men will be profiled on the Shire’s digital platforms, sharing what they do to live a longer, healthier life as part of the campaign.
Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said it was important to raise male health issues and encourage men to take a greater interest in their health.
“The life expectancy of a male born in 2018 is 80.7 compared to almost 85 for females which is why Men’s Health Week is so important,” Cr Rich said.

“Men can be more inclined to not visit the doctor for regular checkups and take less of an interest in their general health overall.

“The Shire wants to highlight not just the importance of men’s health, but also recognise the contribution they make to our community.”
