A 17-year-old boy has been charged over an alleged arson attack in Baldivis that police believe is linked to the illicit tobacco trade.
The teenager allegedly got out of a vehicle on Settlers Avenue around 5am on December 22 and set fire to the front of a convenience store.
He then allegedly returned to the vehicle and fled the area.
Two people were inside the store at the time but were not injured.
Police believe the convenience store is linked to illicit tobacco products.
The Nollamara boy has been charged with criminal damage by fire and two counts of no authority to drive.
He was remanded in custody and is due to to appear in the Perth Children's Court on January 6.
"This incident is being investigated by Taskforce Maverick, which was established by the Western Australia Police Force on 24 November in response to multiple criminal damage by fire incidents at premises. Inquiries indicate these incidents are linked to the illicit tobacco trade in Western Australia," a WA Police spokesperson said.
