Read the statement from the Shire.
As of 12:00pm Monday 23 March, several Shire facilities including Murray Library and Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre have closed to the public in light of stage one Australian and State Government social distancing directions.
The Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre has ceased operations until further notice, with all memberships suspended. Swim Club members will either be in credit with the facility for the unused portion of their fees or respective direct debits have been stopped.
Centre staff are available to answer enquiries by calling 08 9531 2000 or emailing mlc@murray.wa.gov.au.
Murray Library’s eResources are still available for its members and a ‘takeaway’ service is continuing through its online catalogue with orders being taken over the phone, by email or online through the catalogue.
Other Library operations have ceased and with exception to the takeaway service, the facility is not accepting visitors.
For further information and to access the catalogue visit murraylibrary.com.au or call 08 9531 7712.
Edenvale Homestead, Edenvale Tea Rooms, the Pinjarra Visitor Information Point as well as all precinct user groups including Roger May Machinery Museum and Cart Shed, Murray District Arts and Crafts Society, Liveringa Art Gallery, Murray District Historical Society and Pinjarra Patchwork and Quilters Club are also closed.
While the Dwellingup History and Visitor Information Centre has closed, an information service is still being offered via telephone 08 9538 1108 or email dhvic@murraytourism.com.au.
Chief Executive Officer Mr. Dean Unsworth reminds members of the community to conduct their business with the Shire over the phone or via email in the first instance.
“It is important in this unprecedented time that we do all we can to slow the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing especially minimising our exposure to others.
“Follow the advice and legislated rules and perform your civic duty as only through unity in approach can we combat this virus and its devastating impact,” he said.
