Three people have been charged with the alleged stabbing murder of 17-year-old Chikayne-Nadante Heslip in Waikiki.
Police will allege Chikayne was assaulted by a group of males near the corner of Porpoise Grove and Andes Close before being further assaulted by the same group outside a house on nearby Resolution Drive on the night of Saturday, December 12.
He received serious injuries and was taken to Rockingham General Hospital where he died.
A 17-year-old boy from Port Kennedy, an 18-year-old man from Wellard and a 27-year-old man from Waikiki have each been charged with murder.
They have all been refused bail and are due to appear in court today.
The 17-year-old Port Kennedy boy will appear in the Perth Children’s Court, while the two men will appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court.
Today, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Brentwood and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
In a statement, Chikayne's family described him as a hero.
"Chikayne, our beautiful, caring young man, always put others first," the statement read.
"Our understanding is that Chikayne died protecting his mates and in our eyes he will always be a selfless hero.
"You will always be remembered as our hero."
