Two charged after tortoises recovered

Detectives have charged two people after two tortoises, stolen seven years ago, were found at separate residence.

A man and woman have been charged with stealing after police located a two stolen tortoises at their Greenwood and Girrawheen homes.

Warwick Police said the animals ware allegedly stolen from Perth Zoo in June and September 2011.

One tortoise was located in the backyard of a Girrawheen on September 26. Further inquiries led to police a second residence in Greenwood, where the second animal was located.

A 35 year-old-woman of the Greenwood address was charged with Trespass and Stealing.  It will be alleged the woman had taken the tortoise from the address in Girrawheen.

A 29 year-old-man of Girrawheen was charged with Possess Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property in relation to the two tortoises.

Both will appear in court at a later date.
