Seven nurses who are currently in self-isolation in Victoria will be permitted to return home to their families in WA and skip hotel quarantine.
Premier Mark McGowan said the WA Health Department and nurses, including one who has tested positive for coronavirus, have agreed on a plan which will see them complete their 14-day self-isolation in Victoria without having to stay another two weeks in hotel quarantine upon their arrival in WA.
"All things going well, following the completion of that self-isolation period they will return home around September 20 or 21," Premier McGowan said.
"As was reported yesterday, under normal circumstances they would then be required to complete a further two weeks of hotel quarantine upon returning to Western Australia.
"That would be a significant burden on seven Western Australians who made a heroic decision to travel across the country to assist people in need.
"They've already made a huge personal sacrifice, and we owe it to them to deliver a fair and compassionate outcome for them."
The plan will see a 'clean' charter plane sent to Victoria from WA to collect the nurses and bring them home.
