A man in his 70s has died in Joondalup Hospital after contracting COVID-19.
Premier Mark McGowan said the man was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.
"I'm advised that WA Health has no record of the man receiving a COVID-19 vaccination," he said.
"The man has been admitted to hospital after acquiring the virus in the community."
WA Health said the death is not connected to the Juniper Aged Care outbreak.
It is the second death of a Western Australian who acquired the virus locally since the start of the pandemic.
WA recorded 51 new local cases overnight.
Some of the new local cases were infectious in the community.
