A 30-year-old man has been charged over an alleged police pursuit that started in Hillman and ended in Port Kennedy overnight.
Police allegedly approached a stationary white Toyota Camry on Milina Street in Hillman around 11.30pm on Tuesday, March 11.
The vehicle was allegedly bearing false number plates and had been stolen on March 6.
"As police approached, officers repeatedly asked the male driver to exit the locked vehicle. It will be alleged the man refused to exit and reversed away at speed, causing officers to take evasive action," a WA Police spokesperson said.
A short time later, police spotted the vehicle on Currie Street in Warnbro and activated their lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop.
The Camry allegedly travelled recklessly throughout the area before coming to a stop in bushland near Bayeux Avenue in Port Kennedy.
"A short time later, Police Air Wing, with the assistance of the Canine Section located the vehicle and the man deep in the bushland area, where he was arrested," the WA Police spokesperson said.
Police allegedly seized an amount of methylamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and two cannisters of OC spray that were in the man’s possession.
The man from Safety Bay has been charged with a string of offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop, stealing a motor vehicle, no authority to drive, possessing a prohibited drug and carrying a controlled weapon.
He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
