Police have released footage of the moment a young driver was arrested following a police chase from Thornlie to Mandurah.
Around 11.55pm on Wednesday, police were on patrol in Thornlie when they saw a Nissan Navara enter a roundabout in the wrong direction to make a 'short cut' right turn onto Berehaven Avenue.
The officers caught up to the vehicle and activated their emergency lights to signal the driver to stop.
The 18-year-old allegedly slowed down but did not stop and then sped off.
The Police Air Wing followed him through several suburbs before the Nissan was allegedly abandoned on Darwin Terrace in Dudley Park.
The footage shows the driver allegedly fleeing on foot but he was soon tackled by a police officer.
Rahiri Pomare appeared in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with failing to stop, reckless driving and no authority to drive.
He was granted bail and will appear in court again on January 3.
