A woman's body has been recovered by police divers after the car she was in rolled into the ocean in Fremantle.
Police say the car containing an 81-year-old man and the 75-year-old woman plunged into the water at South Mole just after 7pm on Monday.
The man managed to swim to safety and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The woman, understood to be his wife, could not be saved.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
