Mandurah Detectives have charged an 18-year-old man over an aggravated home burglary in Mandurah between Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July 2024.
Between 6:30pm and 7pm, it will be alleged the man gained entry into a caravan in the rear yard of a residence on Tuckey Street. Once inside, the man stole several items before fleeing.
Later that evening, between 11:45pm and 12:05am, it will be further alleged the man re-attended the residence and forced entry inside. An occupant, a woman aged in her 80s, was sleeping inside before being awoken. She left her bedroom finding herself confronted by a man unknown to her.
Subsequently, the man allegedly threatened the woman before punching her in the face. As a result, the woman sustained a laceration to her mouth, and received bruising and swelling.
The man then fled the address.
Police, with the assistance of the Canine Section, attempted to locate the man. Police Dog Blaze was deployed and located the man a short distance away hiding under a vehicle.
Police located the man’s backpack nearby; a search was conducted and firearm ammunition was located along with a number of other stolen items.
An 18-year-old man from Pinjarra has been charged with the following offences:
• 1 x Home Burglary and Commit
• 1 x Stealing
• 1 x Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit
• 1 x Aggravated Robbery
• 1 x Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition
• 1 x Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property
He appeared before the Mandurah Magistrates Court this morning and was remanded in custody, until his next court appearance on Tuesday 9 July 2024.
