Two young children have been caught up in an alleged police chase in Mandurah that ended in the arrest of a man and woman.
Police Air Wing began following a grey Holden Commodore as it exited the Kwinana Freeway at Lakes Road in Greenfields about 7.45pm on Tuesday, September 3.
It is alleged the Commodore had earlier been stolen from a home in Coodanup.
"The vehicle travelled through Greenfields to Mandurah where it crossed to the wrong side of Mandurah Road, causing a collision between multiple vehicles as the drivers attempted to avoid the Holden. Nobody was injured," a WA Police spokesperson said.
"The Holden travelled through Dudley Park before it eventually stopped outside a home near the corner of Scarsdale Avenue and Tankerton Drive in Coodanup.
"The male driver and four passengers – two females and two children aged under six – then exited the Holden.
"One of the females then re-entered the Holden and attempted to drive away; however, was stopped a short distance away and arrested."
Police located the man a short time later hiding in a bin outside a home on Tankerton Drive.
The 30-year-old has been charged with 12 offences including stealing a motor vehicle, burglary, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and failing to stop.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
A 32-year-old Coodanup woman was also charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle.
She is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on September 27.
The second woman and the two children were found at the home on Tankerton Drive.
She was not charged.
Inquiries are continuing.
