Sad news from the Aussie rock world this morning...
Bob “Bongo” Starkie, legendary guitarist of Skyhooks, has passed away at 73 after a battle with leukaemia.
Starkie helped power Skyhooks’ rise in the 1970s with guitar and backing vocals on classics like Living in the ’70s and Ego Is Not a Dirty Word, known for his wild stage looks and theatrical presence.
His bandmates say music was “in his blood till the very end.” He died peacefully at home, listening to Chuck Berry, surrounded by family and loved ones. He’ll be deeply missed by fans, family and the Aussie music scene.

Someone else who has passed away is Australian theatre legend, Toni Lamond at 93.
She was an Australian vaudevillian, cabaret performer, singer, actress, dance, comedienne, writer and tv star. She had a successful career spanning over 8 decades both locally and internationally.
Gregory Maguire, author of "Wicked," has officially announced he's writing a new book featuring Galinda's origin story!
The upcoming book, titled "Galinda: A Charmed Childhood," will officially be released on September 29, 2026!
And we think it will be very ‘popular’.
The book, a companion to his recent prequel Elphie: A Wicked Childhood, will follow her childhood, including family business strategies, district dance competitions, and her father's role.
