Michael Paynter is set to play John Farnham in the upcoming musical Whispering Jack, marking the 40th anniversary of Farnsy’s highest-selling album of all time.
The musical brings his story, music and magic to life and hits the Sydney Theatre Company from November 15.
Paynter, whose voice has long been compared to Farnham’s, was a clear choice.
Especially after the writer saw him play Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, he knew he’d found his Farnsy.

The first full trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic Michael has dropped.
The film stars Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop and will focus on the rise of one of the most iconic talents of our time.
With Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as John Branca, and Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, the film will premiere in theaters and IMAX on April 24th.
A Stranger Things Animated Series is coming to Netflix.
The spinoff is set in Hawkins, Indiana in the winter of 1985, where Eleven, Mike and the gang unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.
