The SAG Awards has been rebranded to simply the Actor Awards – which went down in LA on Monday and as you could imagine – it was a mega star-studded event. Kristen Bell absolutely nailed it as host again, delivering the laughs with her trademark wit and vocal talent.
Our Aussies Jacob Elordi, Sarah Snook and Rose Byrne missed out on trophies this time - but they were in seriously tough company.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners was the evening’s standout, winning Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and scoring Michael B. Jordan the Lead Male Actor trophy for his dual-role turn in the film.
In the top acting categories, Jessie Buckley won Outstanding Female Actor for Hamnet, while seasoned performer Amy Madigan delighted audiences by recreating her character’s iconic run onstage as she accepted Supporting Actress for Weapons.
On the television side, The Studio swept the comedy categories, including posthumous wins for Catherine O’Hara, with co-star Seth Rogen accepting on her behalf in an emotional tribute. Apple TV+’s hit also netted Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Harrison Ford capped the night with the Life Achievement Award, earning a standing ovation as he reflected on his prolific career.
We have lost a few legends… Australian actress Lorraine Bayly... best known for Play School and The Sullivans - has passed away at 89.
And legendary singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka has died at 86.
The hitmaker behind Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, Oh Carol, and Calendar Girl enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades, with major success in the ’60s and a big comeback in the ’70s.
His family says he inspired millions through his music.
