Oscar winner Kate Winslet will star as the female lead in the new Middle-earth film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which is set to hit cinemas in December 2027.
Andy Serkis will return as Gollum and also direct the film, while Ian McKellen is confirmed to reprise his role as Gandalf and Elijah Wood as Frodo.
The story takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, focusing on the hunt for Gollum as the race for the One Ring begins and is set to begin filming in New Zealand in May.
