The 98th Academy Awards wrapped up in Hollywood yesterday, with Conan O'Brien hosting the prestigious occasion.
Political drama One Battle After Another was the big winner, taking home Best Picture along with five other awards, including Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn – who was a no show.
Aussie’s Rose Byrne was nominated for Best Actress, but it was Irish actress Jessie Buckley who took out the award for her role as a mother struggling with loss in the Shakespeare-inspired drama Hamnet.
Michael B. Jordan scored his first Oscar, winning Best Supporting Actor for the vampire thriller Sinners, which also picked up several technical awards on the night.
And Best Supporting Actress went to Amy Madigan for her role in the supernatural thriller Weapons.
Other winners included animated hit KPop Demon Hunters for Best Animated Feature, and best song with Golden, and Avatar: Fire and Ash winning Best Visual Effects.
Jacob Elordi may have missed out on an Oscar for Best supporting Actor in Frankenstein, but he did bring his Mum along as his date.
So adorable!!!
Even though Guillermo Del Toro missed out on a Best Director nomination film snaffled three awards including Best Costume Design by New Zealand designer Kate Hawley, and best makeup and hairstyling.
The in-memoriam section gave a beautiful tribute to those who have passed away, including an homage to Diane Keaton by Rachel McAdams, and Robert Redford by Barbara Streisand… but it was Billy Crystals moving speech on the loss of his friend and industry legend Director and Writer Rob Reiner that had people reaching for the tissues.
One of the biggest highlights for me was when Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor came out to announce the last award – and gave us a little Moulin Rouge flashback.
