Strike Force Vulcan detectives have charged a man after an incident in Oakford on Wednesday.
It is alleged around 5am, the man set fire to his Ford Falcon utility parked on the side of Thomas Road near Anketell Road.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to extinguish the fire which had engulfed the vehicle and travelled to nearby bushland.
The 45-year-old man from Woodbridge has been charged with breach of duty
He is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on 6 December 2019.
The offence of breach of duty is an indictable arson related offence carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years.
