A man has been jailed after a string of stealing offences in Mandurah.
Derek Turner appeared in Mandurah Magistrate's Court on Tuesday charged with burglary, attempted burglary and stealing.
In July 2018, Mr Turner attempted to break in to Instant Cash Mandurah causing over $2000 damage, as well as stealing an item from a trailer at the back of the store worth $49.
Then on August 11, 2018 he broke in to Mandurah Dental Surgery by smashing the front window of the store.
He stole items to the value of $17,650 including a brand new laptop worth $4100, camera equipment and dental equipment.
Mr Turner claims he then sold the laptop to a man he knows for $50.
A number of items have since been recovered.
Magistrate Anne Longden said although he pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, the "serious" incidents are not out of character and are "the kind [of incidents] the community are fed up with".
"A large quantity of property was stolen and the price was significant," she said.
"You're motivation is mysterious... I take the view that an immediate term of imprisonment has been reached."
Mr Turner was sentenced to 10 months in prison and will be eligible for parole.
