A Mandurah couple are $300,000 richer after taking out the top prize on a scratchie.
The couple in their 70s purchased the Loaded Multiplier ticket from Nextra Forum West Newsagency in Mandurah.
“I scratched the ticket as normal and it looked like we had won,” the man said.
“We kept checking and checking, we thought it must be an error, you never think it’s actually going to happen to you.”
The woman headed to the newsagency where she had bought the ticket for confirmation.
When staff congratulated her on the $300,000 win, she headed home to share the good news.
“When she walked in the door, I saw the look on her face and knew straight away,” he said.
“That’s when the celebrating started. We jumped in the car and drove straight up to Lotterywest HQ to claim the prize.
“We didn’t want to risk losing the ticket, imagine that!”
The couple plan to use their winnings to make life more comfortable and help their children.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said this was the first scratchie Top Prize win of 2025.
“What a fantastic start to the year for this couple,” she said.
“Since 1 January, we’ve also seen three WA players win Division Two in Set for Life, meaning they’ll pocket $5,000 a month for the whole year.”
