The Rockingham Flames women and Mandurah Magic men have both advanced to the NBL1 West grand finals following overtime thrillers at the weekend.
ROCKINGHAM FLAMES WOMEN
The Flames defeated the Lakeside Lightning in a preliminary final showdown at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Saturday night.
With a spot in the grand final on the line, both teams fought hard until the very end and when the final buzzer sounded the scores were tied at 80-80 sending the game into overtime.
Rockingham eventually won 92-86, booking their spot in the grand final at RAC Arena on Saturday, August 10 against the Cockburn Cougars.
MANDURAH MAGIC MEN
The Mandurah Magic men are through to their first ever NBL1 West grand final after a nail-biting win over the Joondalup Wolves at HBF Arena.
After finishing at the bottom of the ladder in 2023, the Magic have proved to be one of the best in the league in 2024.
Sunday's clash with the Wolves also saw the game go into overtime with the scores tied at 80-80.
But it was Mandurah who prevailed in the end, winning by just three points, 88-91.
MVP Joel Murray was pivotal in the win with a massive 40 points.
The Magic will now take on the Willetton Tigers in the grand final at RAC Arena on Saturday, August 10 following the women's game.
