Australia Post is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Mandurah Post Office.
Mandurah’s first official post office was built in 1890, a four-roomed brick house with a galvanised iron roof on the current post office site on Pinjarra Road.
In 1945 a new post office was built to better suit the needs of local residents.

In 1951 it boasted modern facilities and services including letter and telegram delivery, money orders, savings bank, pensions, and child endowment payments.
The Siemens R.A.X. switchboard installed in 1950 could handle 100 lines, with plans for further expansion as Mandurah continued to grow.
The Mandurah Post Office remains an important landmark in the community – recognised for its significant heritage value – and has become a symbol of the town’s growth and role in regional communication, continuing to serve locals through both traditional and digital services.
“It's exciting to celebrate 80 years of Mandurah Post Office," Mandurah Post Office’s Postal Manager Robert Saunders said.
"From a time of delivering telegrams and handwritten letters to the modern surge of online shopping, it's clear that this post office has been a constant through generations of change.
"We're proud to continue this tradition of serving our local community and look forward to many more years of supporting Mandurah residents.”
