Motorcycle passenger in critical condition after rider allegedly runs red light in East Rockingham

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section have charged a man in relation to a serious crash that occurred in East Rockingham on Sunday, 2 August 2026.

About 7.00pm, a motorcycle travelling south on Patterson Road and a white Toyota RAV4 turning right from Patterson Road onto Ennis Avenue were involved in a collision at the intersection.

It will be alleged the 23-year-old male rider of the motorcycle failed to stop at the red traffic control signal.

The 23-year-old male rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment.

The 27-year-old male passenger of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries and was conveyed by St John WA to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 32-year-old female driver of the Toyota was not injured, and a young child sustained minor injuries.

The 23-year-old Rockingham man has been charged with:

1 x Dangerous Driving Causing Grievous Bodily Harm - in circumstances of aggravation
1 x No authority to Drive

He is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court today, Monday, 3 August 2026.
