The Rockingham Flames men have secured a seven-point win over the Joondalup Wolves in an overtime thriller in round seven of the NBL1 West.

The Wolves were up by seven in the dying minutes of the game before Rockingham's Isaac White shot a huge three, tying the scores 101-101, sending the game into overtime.

The extra five minutes saw the Flames outplay Joondalup eventually winning 116-109.

Coach Ryan Petrik said he was glad they got the win.

"It's a funny one, with a minute to go we probably deserved to lose it, but then if you look back after the game we led for 31 minutes of a 45 minute game," he said.

"Gutsy performance by the boys considering the foul trouble and stuff we had going on as the night went on and really good to celebrate Travy (Travis) Durnin's 200th game."

Meanwhile, the Rockingham Flames women secured their third win of the season, defeating the Wolves 114-94.

It has been a horror start to the year for the reigning champions with several key players missing from the side and the departure of coach Lukas Carey last week.

But with most of their players back on board, and Ryan Petrik taking over the coaching role, the Flames were a different team on Saturday night.

"It's been a chaotic week for the women's side of things but they played really well," Petrik said.

"We've had two training sessions, just trying to slap it together as we go, so bit of a disjointed week but certainly we'd expect to be playing some better basketball in the coming weeks once we start to understand the new system."

Rockingham also celebrated captain Shani Amos' 300th game.

MANDURAH MAGIC RESULTS

Over at the Mandurah Magic camp, the men had a thrilling come-from-behind win over the Cockburn Cougars at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

Lachlan Bertram scored the game winning shot to seal the 95-93 victory.

"It was an exciting win, the Cockburn Cougars are a lot better team than their place on the ladder (suggests)," coach Mark Utley said.

"We basically had control of the game for most of it until the last quarter where they got a six point lead and then we were sort of able to fight back and then a Lachie Bertram steal and (he) finished right on the buzzer."

The win pushes the Magic up to fourth on the ladder with seven wins and three losses.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Cougars proved too strong for the Mandurah Magic women defeating them 91-83.

"Disappointing loss against the top of the table Cockburn Cougars but I thought we gave ourselves every shot in the game, even playing a little bit undermanned," coach Vlad Alava said.

"We started slowly, were down by 21 points but then got going in the second half to bring it down to about four but unfortunately we just ran out of time."

Mandurah are now 5-5 heading into round nine of the NBL1 West season.
