The Shire of Murray held a community celebration on Friday March 10 to celebrate the first milestone of the soon-to-be refurbished Exchange Hotel.
More than 200 people came together for the opportunity to meet the new operators, view the redevelopment plans, and learn more about the future of the destination venue.
Operators Karl and Janine Bullers shared their vision for bringing the heritage building back to its former glory as a much-loved venue for residents and visitors in Pinjarra.

The celebration included a licensed bar provided by the operators and their partners with all takings going to the Pinjarra Women’s Centre. The bar raised more than $3800 on the night.
“The Exchange Hotel is very important to our community and we were thrilled to provide the opportunity for the public to ask questions, find out more about the plans, and to celebrate this project," Shire President Cr. David Bolt said.
“It has been a long process to get here – we first started talking about it 10 years ago, so it was great to see so many members of the community join us in celebrating the first milestones.”
Guests were invited to continue the celebrations at the Music on the Murray event on the banks of the Murray River with a performance by local musician Ricky Green.
The Exchange Hotel will open in Autumn 2024, and the redevelopment has been made possible with $2.34 million of funding from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
