The Pinjarra Community Men's Shed has received a grant of nearly $3000 under the Federal Government's National Shed Development Programme.
The Programme supports men’s sheds around the country by providing grants for health and wellbeing events, shed improvements and equipment.
Pinjarra Men’s Shed will use the funding to install eye wash systems and a chemical storage cabinet to improve safety for members.
Member for Canning Andrew Hastie said the Pinjarra Men’s Shed is an important part of the local community.
“Bob, Rob, Luka and the guys out at the Pinjarra Men’s Shed are leaders in our community. They are making an important contribution to the health and wellbeing of Pinjarra,” Mr Hastie said.
“The Morrison Government has been proud to support them over the years. I’m really pleased their continued work has been recognised through this grant.”
Minister for Health Greg Hunt said belonging to a social group was vitally important for emotional and mental health.
“Men’s Sheds are a fantastic way for men to stay connected with their communities,” Minister Hunt said.
“The Government remains committed to supporting men’s sheds and encouraging men to meet up and get involved with meaningful community projects.”
More than 6,000 men across Australia are expected to benefit from the programme, with 121 men’s sheds receiving funding under this round.
