A Pinjarra pub's steak sandwich has been crowned the best in regional Western Australia.
The Exchange Hotel took out the Australian Hotel Association (WA) Best Regional Steak Sandwich competition on Tuesday.
Exchange chef David Brown battled it out against three other regional finalists in a live cook-off at the Hospitality Expo.
He was up against chefs from Brugan Brewery near Harvey, Settlers Tavern in Margaret River and Spinifex Brewery in Cable Beach.
The sandwiches were judged on meat tenderness, presentation, originality, chips, sauces, flavour and value.
At $32, The Exchange Hotel steak sandwich features a scotch fillet (fresh from Midway Farm in Pinjarra), smoked cheddar, caramelised onion and bacon jam, pickles, beetroot, buttercup lettuce, and aioli in sliced brioche.
