The State Government will spend an extra $5 million for increased police patrols across WA this summer.
Operation Heat Shield will run from December 1 to May 31, tackling the historic rise in crime rates experienced during the summer period.
Police Minister Michelle Roberts said an increased police presence will be seen in suburban and regional centres across the State and will be on a scale never before seen in Western Australia.
"We know historically there is a spike in crime over the summer months, so this is about being pro-active and giving the community reassurance," she said.
The $5 million funding package will see a rise in the number of policing shifts and patrols, adding an additional 55,000 overtime policing hours.
It will also allow police to carry out more coordinated operations targeting burglary, retail theft and family violence perpetrators.
Mounted section, K-9 unit, Regional Operations Group, Juvenile Action Group, bike and beat patrols will all be part of the blitz.
