The family of a young boy who was hit by a car in Cooloongup earlier this month say his "prognosis is terrifying" and discussions are underway on whether he will be able to walk or talk again.
Phoenix was walking home from school with his brothers and sisters on May 8 when he walked in front of a bus and was struck by a car while crossing Willmott Drive.
The seven-year-old was rushed to Rockingham Hospital before being transferred to Perth Children's Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.
In a GoFundMe page created by Phoenix's aunty Ashley, she said her nephew suffered horrific injuries.
"That night Phoenix had emergency surgery on his liver as well as having part of his skull removed to alleviate the pressure in his head. Without these surgeries Phoenix wouldn't have made it," her GoFundMe page read.
"The prognosis is terrifying, with discussions happening on if he will be able to walk, talk, eat or even breathe for himself. Since those discussions Phoenix has woken from his coma where he has shown signs of breathing on his own and minimal movements.
"It is still a very long road ahead of intense therapy, intense rehabilitation and the unknown of what his journey or life may or may not look like."

Ashley is calling on donations to help Phoenix's parents financially.
"Phoenix's parents haven't left his side. But as a single income family with limited savings the financial pressure is building to continue to pay rent and for the care of their six other children," she said.
