Fremantle's Aiden Riddle has helped steer Peel Thunder to an eighth straight victory in a top-of-the-table clash against Claremont on Saturday.

After taking a mark 20 metres in front of goal in the dying seconds of the round 13 game at Lane Group Stadium, Riddle kicked the match-winning goal after the siren, securing the three-point win.

The 20-year-old ruckman has just signed a two-year contract extension with the Dockers but is yet to make his AFL debut.

Thunder coach Adam Read said they dropped the ball in the first half but made some changes in the second which set them up for the 8.11 (59) to 8.8 (56) win.

"It was a really tight, defensive struggle most of the day, Claremont really got a hold of us in the second quarter and at half time we made a couple of adjustments especially around the contest," he said.

"We were able to stay within reaching distance and then fortunately for us in the last few minutes we won a few critical stoppages to get the ball going forward and we were able to get the shot after the siren from Aiden Riddle."

The Thunder now sit a game clear of Claremont at the top of the WAFL ladder heading into round 14.
