Aluminium... it’s one of the most abundant elements on Earth, and the most common metal in our planet’s crust.
But in the 19th century, it was so hard to produce that pure aluminium was actually more valuable than gold... even the tip of the Washington Monument was capped with it!
Today, aluminium is prized for being strong yet incredibly light (about a third the weight of steel), and naturally resistant to rust thanks to its protective oxide layer. It’s also flexible, conductive, and heat-resistant, making it ideal for everything from cookware to rocket fuel.
Best of all, aluminium is endlessly recyclable - it never loses quality. Recycling uses just 5% of the energy needed to make new aluminium, and around 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today.
A true metal marvel - light, strong, and endlessly sustainable.
And great for keeping the aliens out of our heads.
