Such sad news with the passing of US actor Matthew Perry, who died on Saturday at his home in LA. He was just 54.

He was found unresponsive in his spa and paramedics say he reportedly suffered a heart attack. Perry shot to fame in his role as the sarcastically loveable Chandler Bing in the hit series Friends which he was part of for the entire 10-year run.

Off-screen, the troubled star was open about his battle with addiction and depression and had many close calls, including when he was in a coma for two weeks after his colon ruptured in 2019 and he almost died.

What you may not know, is that he strived to help others who were suffering. He opened up the Perry House in Malibu – which was a sober living facility for men. He also wrote his Memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing - which he narrated himself - to shine a light on his struggles and his wins.

In his book – he wrote, 'When I die, I know people with talk about Friends, Friends, Friends. And I’m glad of that, happy I’ve done some solid work as an actor.  But when I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were last - far behind the things I did to try to help other people. I know it won’t happen, but it would be nice...'

Tributes have flooded in from stars and friends in Hollywood – but his Friend’s co-stars Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and Courtney Cox have yet to respond to their devastating loss. It would be so hard to find the words.

Vale Matthew Perry. May you finally be at peace.
