On This Day... the first Slalom event in skiing was held in Switzerland in 1922, the Rolling Stones commenced their first tour of Australia in 1965, Jackie Wilson - US soul singer passed away aged 49 in 1984, John McEnroe became the first-ever tennis player to be expelled from the Australian Open when he threw a tanty and swore profusely at an official in 1990, Peggy Lee, the US singer passed away aged 81 in 2002, and we lost welsh comic actor Terry Jones - best known for his work on Monty Python's Flying Circus - aged 77 in 2020.
